Description
The Spool Collar 2.5″ ID is a high-quality collar designed for reel trailers to secure the spool in place during transportation. This essential accessory ensures stability and prevents shifting, providing peace of mind improving safety.
What does “2.5″ ID” mean?
ID means inside diameter—this collar is made to slide onto a 2.5″ diameter spool bar/shaft.
What is this used for?
Spool collars keep the reel from walking side-to-side on the spool bar while you’re pulling cable. Tighten the collar against the reel/flange and it helps keep the load centered.
How much weight are these rated for?
These spool collars are designed for heavy-duty use and are rated up to 8,500 lbs (used correctly on a properly supported spool bar).
Are these sold individually or as a set?
They are sold individually. Most customers use two collars per reel (one on each side) to keep the spool locked in place.
Will this fit my reel trailer / spool bar?
If your spool bar is 2.5″ outside diameter, these will fit. If you’re unsure, measure the bar OD with a tape measure or calipers (or contact us with your trailer model and we’ll point you to the right collar).
How do I install and tighten it?
Slide the collar onto the spool bar, position it tight against the reel, then tighten the bolt with a 3/4″ wrench until the collar is secure. Re-check tightness after the first pull, especially on new setups.
Can I use these with steel or wooden reels?
Yes—these are commonly used with both. The key is clamping the collar against a solid reel surface so it can’t drift while pulling.
